# The Best Changelog Tools (2026): Which Ones Can Your AI Agent Publish To?

The best changelog tool depends on what you want your AI agent to do with it. If you want your agent to draft a changelog entry from finished tasks, publish it when you say so, and email the people who asked for the feature, LotsTeam covers that in one workspace from $9 per project. If you want in-app announcement widgets and segmentation, AnnounceKit and Beamer are built for that, and AnnounceKit, Productlane, Featurebase and Canny all have MCP servers your agent can publish through.

This list covers eight changelog tools, checked against each vendor's own pricing page, docs and MCP documentation on 10 October 2026. For each one I checked what it costs, how it charges, whether it has an MCP server, and what that server can do with a changelog entry. In LotsTeam a "post" means a piece of product feedback, such as a request, a bug or an idea.

## The best changelog tools at a glance

| Tool | Starting price | How it charges | MCP server | Can an agent publish an entry? |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| **AnnounceKit** | $59 a month for Changelog (monthly billing) | Products, plus add-ons | Included in every product | Yes: draft, publish and schedule. Never deletes |
| **Productlane** | $29 per user a month, billed yearly | Users | All four plans | Yes: create drafts, publish, broadcast by email or Slack |
| **Featurebase** | $29 per seat a month, billed yearly | Seats | All paid plans | Yes: create, edit, publish, unpublish and delete Updates |
| **Canny** | Changelog is on the free plan; Pro from $79 a month, billed yearly | Tracked users | Pro and Business | Create and update entries and their status; it can also delete |
| **Beamer** | $59 a month (Starter, monthly billing), free plan for under 1,000 MAU | Monthly active users | None found on its site | Not through MCP |
| **Frill** | $25 a month (monthly billing) | Plan tiers, unlimited teammates | Read-only, API key | No: it can only read announcements |
| **Headway** | Free; Pro $29 a month | Two tiers | None found on its site | Not through MCP |

## 1. LotsTeam

LotsTeam puts the changelog next to the requests that caused it. A request from the widget or the public portal, the task that comes from it, and the changelog entry that announces it are linked records. Your AI agent (ChatGPT, Claude or Claude Code) reads the closed tasks, drafts the entry, and publishes it when you tell it to. If the entry is linked to a task with requests behind it, you can opt in to emailing the people who asked. It's once per entry, capped at 100 people, each email carries an unsubscribe link, and anonymous voters aren't emailed.

- **Price:** $9 per project a month with pay as you go, or plans of $24 for 3 projects, $69 for 10 and $159 for 30. Team members are unlimited.
- **Agent access:** MCP server and REST API on every plan. The agent acts with the permissions of the person signed in, and none of the 26 tools deletes anything.
- **Free start:** 10,000 free credits, valid 90 days, no card.
- **Best for:** founders and lean teams who want the changelog, the requests and the tasks in one place, run from an agent.

If you need in-app announcement widgets, audience segments or multi-language publishing, the tools below are built for that.

## 2. AnnounceKit

AnnounceKit is a product communication platform, and its Changelog product is the closest thing here to a dedicated changelog tool with an agent layer. Its MCP server is included in every product, and its page says an agent can draft, publish and schedule posts, read feedback and NPS, and that it can never delete anything or touch billing. You can have agents save drafts for review and publish from the dashboard.

- **Price:** Changelog is $59 a month on monthly billing, with annual billing about 20% lower. Every workspace includes 10,000 monthly active users, then $25 per 5,000. Each product includes 3 team members; unlimited team members is a $39 add-on, and subscriber email is a $49 add-on.
- **Trial:** 15 days, no card.
- **Best for:** teams who want in-app widgets in 10+ display modes, email, Slack and RSS from one post.

## 3. Productlane

Productlane is a customer support platform for software companies, and its changelog is one part of it. Its MCP server, added in June 2026, lets an agent read changelog entries, create drafts, edit drafts or published entries, publish, and broadcast by email or Slack. New entries start as drafts.

- **Price:** $29 per user a month on Starter, $59 on Pro and $99 on Scale, billed yearly ($35, $79 and $129 billed monthly). A changelog is on every plan; email and Slack broadcasts start on Pro.
- **Best for:** teams that run support in Productlane and keep their issues in Linear.

## 4. Featurebase

Featurebase is a support and feedback suite with an Updates product for the changelog. Its MCP server is on all paid plans and can create, edit, publish, unpublish and delete Updates, with OAuth sign-in. The server gives your AI client read-only and write or delete tools separately, so you can require confirmation for the write ones.

- **Price:** a free plan with 1 seat, then $29, $59 and $99 per seat a month, billed yearly.
- **Best for:** teams that want a helpdesk, a help center and a changelog in one suite.

## 5. Canny

Canny is a feedback tool with a changelog on every plan, including the free one. Its MCP server is on the Pro and Business plans, and its help center lists tools to create and update changelog entries and their status, available to Managers and Owners. The same list includes a delete tool for entries, and the server has more than 60 tools in all.

- **Price:** Free for up to 25 tracked users, Pro from $79 a month billed yearly for 100+ tracked users. The price follows the number of tracked users, meaning people who've given feedback.
- **Best for:** teams that already collect feedback in Canny and want the changelog tied to it.

## 6. Beamer

Beamer is a changelog and in-app announcement tool. Its changelog, boosted announcements and analytics start with the Starter plan. Email notifications start on Pro. I found no MCP server on Beamer's website, pricing page, API page or sitemap, so an agent would work through its API or a tool like Zapier.

- **Price:** a free plan for under 1,000 monthly active users, then Starter at $59 a month on monthly billing ($49 billed yearly) for 5,000 MAU, Pro at $119 ($99) and Scale at $299 ($249). Teammates are unlimited on paid plans.
- **Trial:** 14 days.
- **Best for:** teams that want a polished in-app changelog and push notifications.

## 7. Frill

Frill combines idea boards, a roadmap, announcements and surveys. Its MCP server is read-only: ten tools that can list and read ideas, comments, votes, statuses, topics, announcements and followers, and it signs in with an API key rather than OAuth. An agent can read your release notes through it, but not write them.

- **Price:** $25, $49, $149 and $349 a month across Startup, Business, Growth and Enterprise on monthly billing ($22, $44, $136 and $319 billed yearly), with unlimited teammates on every tier.
- **Trial:** 14 days, no card.
- **Best for:** teams that want feedback and announcements together and mainly need agents to read.

## 8. Headway

Headway is a small, focused changelog widget and hosted page. Its home page lists a free plan with unlimited changelogs and a Pro plan at $29 a month with a custom domain, scheduled publishing and team management. I found no MCP server on its site.

- **Best for:** a simple changelog without extras.

## How to choose

- **You want the agent to turn closed tasks into entries and tell the people who asked:** LotsTeam, because the requests, tasks and changelog share one workspace.
- **You want the widest set of in-app announcement options:** AnnounceKit or Beamer.
- **You already run support in Productlane or Featurebase:** use its changelog, and your agent can publish through its MCP.
- **You already collect feedback in Canny:** its changelog is on every plan, and MCP is on Pro.
- **You want a plain changelog page:** Headway or Frill.

## Common questions

### What is the best changelog tool?

It depends on the job. LotsTeam fits teams who want requests, tasks and the changelog together and run them from an AI agent. AnnounceKit and Beamer fit teams that want in-app announcement widgets. Productlane, Featurebase and Canny suit teams already using them for support or feedback.

### Which changelog tools have an MCP server?

LotsTeam, AnnounceKit, Productlane, Featurebase and Canny have MCP servers that can create or publish changelog entries. Frill's MCP server is read-only. I found no MCP server on Beamer's or Headway's websites.

### Can an AI agent publish my changelog?

Yes, with the tools above. In LotsTeam, the agent drafts the entry and publishes it only when you tell it to. AnnounceKit lets you choose between auto-publish and saving drafts for review, and Productlane saves new entries as drafts.

### Can I email the people who asked for a feature when it ships?

In LotsTeam, yes: on an entry linked to a task, you can opt in to emailing the authors of the requests behind it, once per entry and capped at 100, with an unsubscribe link. Anonymous voters have no email address, so they aren't emailed. Other tools notify subscribers by email too; AnnounceKit's email is an add-on and Beamer's starts on Pro.

### Is there a free changelog tool?

Canny and Headway have free plans that include a changelog, and Beamer has a free plan for under 1,000 monthly active users. LotsTeam gives new accounts 10,000 free credits, valid 90 days, with no card.

### Do these tools delete entries through MCP?

Some do. AnnounceKit's MCP server never deletes, and none of LotsTeam's 26 tools deletes anything. Featurebase and Canny list delete tools for changelog entries.
