A public roadmap tool should show customers what you are working on without a second place to update. LotsTeam builds the roadmap from your task board: tick a task's roadmap box, add a public summary and an optional estimated date, and it appears under Planned, In Progress or Completed. If you want a free roadmap, UserJot, Featurebase and Quackback each have a free plan that includes one.

I compared 11 tools on one question: where does the roadmap come from, and what does it cost to put one in front of customers? Every plan, price and limit below was read on each tool's own pages on 26 October 2026.

## What to look for in a public roadmap tool

- **Where the roadmap data lives.** Some tools keep a separate roadmap you update by hand. Others show cards from the same board your team already works on. The second kind goes stale less often.
- **What becomes public.** You want to pick the items, write a public sentence for each one, and keep everything else private.
- **The price unit.** Per seat, per tracked user, per project or per board. The same roadmap can cost very different amounts as your team or user base grows.
- **How your AI agent fits.** If you already work in ChatGPT or Claude, check whether the agent can change the roadmap, and whose permissions it uses.

## At a glance

Plans and prices checked on 26 October 2026, from each tool's own pricing page. "Roadmap starts on" is the lowest plan that lists a roadmap.

## 1. LotsTeam: a roadmap built from your task board

LotsTeam is the tool I build, so this entry is the longest. The roadmap is not a separate document. It is a view of the tasks your team already works on.

**How a task becomes public.** Open a task and tick **Show on Public Roadmap**. Add a **Public Summary**, which readers see instead of the internal description, and an estimated completion date if you want one shown. Move the task through To do, In progress and Done, and the roadmap shows it as **Planned**, **In Progress** or **Completed**. Only the tasks you tick appear, and everything else on the board stays with your team.

Check the summary before you share the page: if you tick a task and leave the public summary empty, readers see the internal description.

**From your AI agent.** The same fields are on the task, so your agent can set them. With the agent you already use, connected to the [LotsTeam MCP server](https://lots.team/mcp), you can say:

- "Put the CSV export task on the public roadmap with a short public summary and a date in November."
- "Move dark mode to in progress."
- "Which roadmap tasks have no public summary yet?"
- "CSV export shipped. Mark it done and draft the changelog."

The agent works with your permissions, and the dashboard does the same job with the full controls. You can also add an AI agent to your team as its own member with its own key, free, up to 20 per team.

**Where it lives.** On your project's public portal, next to Posts, Changelog and Contact. The portal can run on your own domain. You can see ours at [support.lots.team/roadmap](https://support.lots.team/roadmap): on 26 October 2026 it shows one Completed card, "Capture the page from the feedback widget". Internal projects have no public roadmap.

**What it connects to.** Tasks link to the feedback posts that asked for them. When the work ships, a linked changelog entry can email the people who asked (off unless you turn it on for that entry; see [how to publish a changelog and notify the people who asked](https://blog.lots.team/publish-changelog-notify-people-who-asked)). Customers who wrote in through support can also get an "It's live" email when their request ships. For the full loop from feedback to task, see [the best tools to link feedback to tasks](https://blog.lots.team/best-tools-to-link-feedback-to-tasks).

**Price.** Starter is $24 a month for 3 projects, Pro is $69 for 10 and Business is $159 for 30 (yearly is 10 times the monthly price). Without a plan, each project is $9 a month from credits. Team members and organizations are unlimited, and every feature comes with every project. New accounts get 10,000 free credits, valid 90 days, no card. More on [pricing](https://lots.team/pricing) and in [LotsTeam pricing explained](https://blog.lots.team/lotsteam-pricing-explained). If a free roadmap is all you need, the free plans in entries 2, 3 and 4 below include one.

**Choose LotsTeam if** you want the roadmap to come from the board you already work on, with feedback, tasks, support and changelog in one place, and you want to run it from your AI agent. Its roadmap is three status columns, not a timeline.

## 2. UserJot: a free roadmap with unlimited users

UserJot's Free plan includes a public roadmap and a public changelog, with unlimited users and posts, two feedback boards and three team members. Starter ($29 a month) adds a custom domain, guest posting and private boards, and Professional is $59. There is no per-user pricing on any plan. UserJot has an MCP server that works with an API token; its page says a token reaches your whole workspace, so give each agent its own. Its own examples include telling your agent a request is next, so it moves to Planned and the roadmap follows.

**Choose UserJot if** you want a free public roadmap and are happy with flat feature tiers. I compare the two in [LotsTeam vs UserJot](https://blog.lots.team/lotsteam-vs-userjot).

## 3. Featurebase: one free roadmap, then per seat

Featurebase's Free plan includes 1 feedback board, 1 roadmap, a public portal, unlimited end users and 1 seat. Growth is $29 per seat a month billed yearly, with 5 roadmaps, a custom domain and API, MCP and webhooks. Professional is $59 per seat (10 roadmaps) and Enterprise is $99 (unlimited boards and roadmaps). Featurebase is also a support suite, with a helpdesk and an AI agent priced per resolution.

**Choose Featurebase if** you want a roadmap next to a full helpdesk and your team is small enough for per-seat pricing. See [LotsTeam vs Featurebase](https://blog.lots.team/lotsteam-vs-featurebase).

## 4. Quackback: free, and open source

Quackback's Free plan includes 1 seat, 1 board and 50 posts, with a roadmap, changelog, support inbox, help center and status page. Pro is $29 a month (5 seats, $348 billed yearly) and adds unlimited boards and posts, a custom domain, the API and the MCP server. Quackback is open source under AGPL-3.0, and the self-hosted edition has every feature with unlimited seats, if you run the servers yourself. Customers and voters never count as seats.

**Choose Quackback if** you want a free roadmap, or you want to self-host. See [LotsTeam vs Quackback](https://blog.lots.team/lotsteam-vs-quackback).

## 5. Upvoty: a public roadmap from $15 a month

Upvoty's Power plan is $15 a month billed monthly (annual saves 10%) and lists a public roadmap, a custom domain, unlimited boards and unlimited tracked users, for 1 project. Super is $25 and adds the changelog, and Hyper is $49 with unlimited projects, the API and webhooks and the Upvoty MCP server. Every plan has a 14-day trial with no card.

**Choose Upvoty if** you are a solo founder who wants a roadmap on your own domain at a low monthly price.

## 6. Nolt: a roadmap on every plan

Nolt's Essential plan is $29 a month ($348 billed annually) and includes the roadmap, 1 board, custom statuses and private boards. Pro is $69 a month with 5 boards. All plans have unlimited users and admins. New boards start with a 10-day trial of Pro, no card.

**Choose Nolt if** you want a simple board-and-roadmap tool with flat pricing.

## 7. Sleekplan: roadmap from the Starter plan

Sleekplan's roadmap can be public or internal. It is included from Starter ($13 a month billed yearly, 3 seats); the free Indie plan has the feedback board and changelog but not the roadmap. Business is $38 a month with 10 seats and a custom domain. Sleekplan has a hosted MCP server. Every paid plan starts with a 30-day trial, no card.

**Choose Sleekplan if** you want a low entry price with surveys and NPS in the same product.

## 8. Frill: roadmap on every plan

Frill lists its roadmap features, including drag and drop and separate "micro roadmaps" per product, on all four plans. Startup is $25 a month (50 active ideas), Business is $49 with unlimited ideas and Growth is $149. Admins and tracked users are unlimited. Frill can embed the roadmap in your product or site with one script tag. Its MCP server can read and change ideas, votes, comments and announcements, and it signs in with OAuth or an API key.

**Choose Frill if** you want the roadmap embedded inside your product, or one roadmap per product line.

## 9. Canny: a roadmap prioritized by revenue

Canny's roadmap page is built around ranking requests by ARR and open pipeline, with Autopilot capturing feedback from sources such as Intercom, Zendesk and Gong. Pricing is by tracked user: Free covers 25, and Pro starts at $79 a month billed yearly for 100. Canny's pricing page does not list the roadmap as a separate plan row. Its MCP server is on any paid plan. I cover the alternatives in [Canny alternatives](https://blog.lots.team/canny-alternatives).

**Choose Canny if** you tie feature priority to revenue and your CRM data.

## 10. ProductPlan: a planning tool with unlimited free viewers

ProductPlan is for product managers who plan strategy. It sells one plan, with no published price (you book a demo), that includes roadmaps, portfolio views, prioritization, Jira and Azure DevOps integrations and research surveys. Anyone you share a roadmap with is a free viewer, and any roadmap can be shared as a live link at no extra cost. You pay for the people who build roadmaps.

**Choose ProductPlan if** you manage several products and need executive-ready views, not a customer-facing board.

## 11. Strategic Roadmaps (formerly Roadmunk): timelines for planners

Roadmunk now lives at Tempo as Strategic Roadmaps (roadmunk.com redirects there). Starter is $19 per editor a month billed annually, Business is $49 and Professional is $99. Each plan includes reviewers (3, 5 and 10, then $5 per extra reviewer), who can view and comment. Shared roadmaps are published to a URL manually on Starter, on a schedule on Business and in real time on Professional. A 14-day trial is available.

**Choose Strategic Roadmaps if** you need timeline and swimlane views, dependencies and Jira or Azure DevOps sync.

## Which one should you pick?

- **You want the roadmap to come from your task board, run from your AI agent:** LotsTeam.
- **You want it free:** UserJot, Featurebase or Quackback.
- **You want a low flat price on your own domain:** Upvoty, Nolt or Sleekplan.
- **You want a timeline for internal planning:** ProductPlan or Strategic Roadmaps.

## FAQ

### What is a public roadmap tool?

A public roadmap tool lets you show customers what you plan to build, what you are building and what you have shipped, on a page you control. The better ones read from the same board your team works on, so the roadmap does not need a second round of updates.

### Is there a free public roadmap tool?

Yes. UserJot, Featurebase and Quackback each have a free plan that includes a roadmap. UserJot's is unlimited in users and posts, Featurebase's Free plan has 1 roadmap and 1 seat, and Quackback's has 1 seat and 50 posts. Quackback can also be self-hosted. Checked on 26 October 2026.

### How does a task get onto the LotsTeam public roadmap?

Tick Show on Public Roadmap on the task, add a public summary and an optional estimated date. It then shows under Planned, In Progress or Completed depending on whether the task is To do, In progress or Done. Your AI agent can do the same.

### Does my whole task board become public in LotsTeam?

No. Only the tasks you tick appear on the roadmap. Everything else stays with your team. Add a public summary before you share the page, because without one readers see the internal description.

### Can my AI agent update the roadmap?

Yes. In LotsTeam it can add a task to the roadmap, set its public summary and estimated date, and move it between statuses, within your permissions. Several other tools in this list also have MCP servers, with different plan gates and access models.

### How much does LotsTeam cost?

Plans start at $24 a month for 3 projects, or $9 per project a month from credits without a plan. Organizations and team members are unlimited, and new accounts get 10,000 free credits valid for 90 days, no card. Check lots.team/pricing for current prices.
